Designing Your Twitter Background

More and more business owners are now marketing their businesses on Twitter. With any serious business you want to have a professional online presence. Many social networks allow for the modification of their default theme, and with that Twitter is no exception. But you want to take it to the next level. You want your background to stand out and set you apart. Making use of a custom-designed background will create a substantial impact.

How can you design your Twitter background?

Let’s first start with the information you wish to convey. You will want to include your business name, perhaps a logo, textual links to your business website or possibly other social network URLs. Other information you can include a short bio, contact information or a photo of yourself. Next you want to consider your palette, and color for the sidebar. All of these elements will display to the left hand side of the Twitter post area.
For a more professional and cleaner look (for those who want to use Twitter as a marketing tool), don’t include any tile on the image.

You can use imaging software such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro to create your background. You need to create a large image that can occupy the computer screen but without tiling. It is suggested that you create a background image 1280x1024. Understand that making use of anything smaller will create a situation in which your visitors see less of your design.

For your sidebar, you can line up your images or photos, business info, and website; this bar begins on the upper left-hand side of your image. It can also include your name, job title, blog URL, specialty, social network URL, and other important information.

Save your image as a jpeg or if you wish to have a faster loading image, save it as a gif. Once you have saved your image, login to your Twitter account. On the upper right, click on ‘Settings’. From there you will want to click on the ‘Design’ tab. Click on the link ‘change background image’. By clicking on ‘browse’, you can now find the image that you’ve previously created. Leave the tile check-box unchecked. Finally, click on ‘save changes’. After several seconds, you will have a custom Twitter background image.

Your background on Twitter tells a lot about your personality. If you plan to use Twitter for online marketing, make the background more professional as well as making sure that it suits your image and personality. There are many editing programs that you can use aside from Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro so choose the program you are familiar with and will aid you in creating the background you are looking for.

If you are uncomfortable with creating your own image, there are a few resources on the web to help you accomplish your goal:

The Difference Between Spam and Marketing on Twitter

When we begin speaking in terms of marketing, invariably the question comes up, are my marketing efforts true marketing efforts or are some viewing them as spam?

Spam is about taking the choice away from someone and delivering them information about products and services without their permission. Spam comes in the way of unsolicited emails, junk mail and telemarketing. Spam leaves a bad taste in our mouths and for good reason. We have not asked to be inundated with the information that we find floods our inboxes these days.

Marketing when done responsibly can be fun and witty. Commercials that reach us emotionally are effective marketing tools. People who care about their audience take the time to consider their message and how it will reach others.

On Twitter we each have an option as to who we will follow. And one might suggest it is that choice that gives others the right to “spam”.
Wrong. Spam is irresponsible and annoying. More will tune out than tune in.

Take time to consider your message and how it will connect with your followers. Are you sharing a valuable service, product or resource? Do you take the time to share on a personal level as well as sharing on a business level? Have you established a relationship with your followers? Is the information you are providing timely and appropriate?

If you can answer these questions with a yes answer then your message can effectively be considered marketing rather than spam. Your followers will welcome your post rather than turn away from it.

Share your tweet with others and in turn respond in kind to their own messages and tweets. After all, marketing is all about the relationship and spam is about nothing more than the bottom line.

HOME BASED BUSINESS BELIEVABILITY: HOW IMPORTANT IS THE NAME?

When you start an online, home-based business, where do you get the business name, and how important is the name to your success? What you call your business can affect how much internet traffic you attract, and consequently how much money you make. A credible business name can be the difference between a one-time sale and repeated business.

Make money with the right online name.

Have you thought about what you’re selling, and who is looking for it? Do you offer something that only you can offer, perhaps something that only you can create? In the case of an artistic property, like books or craft items, or maybe jewelry, where your reputation is the main reason people are looking for it, you may want to use your name as your website. Eg. Yourname.com. If you have already chosen an online niche to service, the name you choose for your website should reflect the product or service that you are promoting. People searching for a solution to their problems don’t know, and, in fact, don’t care if you’re a home-based business or a large multinational corporation. They just want answers to their questions. If you have the right name for your website, they are more likely to check out your offers.

Don’t use offbeat names for your site if you want online traffic.

When people sit down at the computer to search for something, they want to solve a problem. The words they type into the search engine will determine what sites will offer them the solution to their problem. There are millions of pages to choose from, so you want your site to be one of the first they see. If you have chosen some bizarre name for your website, the search engine will have to look deeper into your content before it arrives at the information they are seeking. Then, if they’re still looking after they sift through page after page of possible solutions to their problem, they might stumble upon  your website, with it’s seemingly unrelated name. You might have exactly what they are searching for, but how will they find you? If they have any energy left, they may open your link and have a look. Then, if they decide not to buy right now, you better hope they bookmark your site, or they’ll never find it again. We’ve all done that, haven’t we?

Endless links and what they mean to your home-based business.

Have you ever gone to a website searching for something, and the answer to your problem wasn’t there? Instead you were greeted with pages of nothing but links to other websites, some not even related to the search you were conducting. How did you feel? Like you wasted your time visiting that site…or that someone was not interested in solving your problem, just making whatever money they could off you? Don’t get me wrong. Links to other sites that can help you solve your customers’ problems can be a goldmine of extra money for you in the development of your online home-based business, but you should offer some content that attempts to solve their issue, then refer them to an affiliate site (a link that takes them away from your site to someone else’s site to offer them a possible solution). This way you’re site will be appreciated as the catalyst in the solution process.

When choosing a name for your home-based online business, think of the millions of people on the internet that would like you to solve their problems, and then think of how they can find you. What’s in a name, you ask?

To make fast money online, you need to define the term “fast”. Is it fast if it takes a few months to make money... or a year? Or does the money have to start pouring in overnight to qualify? And how fast is fast enough for you?

People scoff when you talk about making fast money online. When they compare online income to traditional business models and how to start them, they forget that the internet shortens the response time for everything, so why wouldn’t it be possible to make fast money online?

Here’s what you do.Set up a website that offers good content for free. You can acquire the names and e-mail addresses of the visitors to your site by offering to send them free material. Then you can send them offers to buy your other products, or offers to buy someone else’s products and you receive a commission. Point and Click Coaching Review

Do You Have The Time To Have A Successful Internet Business?

If you’ve been contemplating....or attempting... the development of an online business, there are several factors to consider
.
Is this going to be a major source of income for you and your family, or perhaps just a few extra bucks in your pocket?
Are you trying to replace your current income, or build a nest egg for retirement?
Do you have an existing business or product that you want to market online? The answer to any of these questions will determine the level of time that you must commit to your business.

If you are working a full-time job or career, the amount of time you have work on your online presence will be limited to that time when you’re not travelling to and from work, doing your job, engaging in family activities or any other recreational undertakings that require your time.

So what do you do?

First thing to do is figure out how much free time you have to spend developing your business. Don’t forget to include your sleep time.....unless you’re prepared to stay awake longer or get up earlier to work on your online business
.
Now you’ll need to develop a system to prioritize WHAT you do online, or you’ll find that you’re not getting any closer to making money. Start by making a list the night before of the important things you need to get done the next day in the time you will have available. Don’t bite off more than you can chew....in other words, don’t put more items on the list than you can reasonably expect to get done. Psychologists tell us that the stress of not getting the job done leads to a feeling of non-accomplishment, rather than feeling good about all those items you’ve crossed off your list.

 Funny, isn’t it?

O.K...Now you’re at the computer. What are you going to do? Surf the web? Answer e-mails? If you get a lot of e-mails, you’ll need a way to deal with them.
Try this....if you know you’re probably not going to read it, delete it! If you have a number of messages requiring a similar answer, consider writing a template for a cut and paste reply. Any e-mails  that don’t require much thought  should be dealt with  a short answer  and sent off as soon as possible
.
When you do get down to working on your internet business, focus on 1 thing at a time. The more items you tackle at the same time, the longer it will ultimately take. If you are following a program to assist you with your online business, try not to deviate from their itinerary. Most online programs will work if you follow them......and you will have a successful internet business.

There are countless programs online that promise to lead you by the hand from start to finish in creating a successful online business. After investigating several of the programs out there, I found that Lee McIntyre’s Point and Click Coaching program is by far the most comprehensive and easy to follow course, chock full of valuable tips and resources to help any level of internet marketer.

Why Would Anyone
Want To Work From
Home?

These days every form of media is touting the phrase “work at home”, but how many people are actually aware of what’s involved in such an undertaking?

There are many clear reasons why someone would want to entertain the idea of working at home.....endless hours staring at taillights and headlights as you make the pilgrimage to your workplace....the high cost of gas  that seems to be a vacuum hose into your wallet every week  (do we eat, or buy gas? Hmmm).....a boss that thinks you should LIVE at work  so you won’t be late because of traffic jams....fellow employees that want YOUR job....and of course....the shrinking paycheck that just doesn’t cover it! Yuck!

It does make sense to work at home, doesn’t it?

Well consider this. Is the type of work you do do-able from home? Or do you have to find some other way to make money from a home-based business?

If you answered the first question with a YES, you may want to approach the powers –that-be at your work and see if they’ll consider the idea of letting you work from home at least  part of the week. That would save you time, gas....and of course money. And they’ll still be getting the job done. As long as you have a phone and internet connection, you can have access to all but the most secure aspects of your job.

The second question is a little more complex. There are many ways to develop an income from home....everything from cutting hair to operating a six-figure internet business. You know your skill set...and there are plenty of business ideas that might fit.

There is a downside, however! If you have kids....and it doesn’t really matter what their ages are....you will need to find a quiet place where you can get the work done without being disturbed. Once your kids KNOW you’re home, they’ll find countless ways to infiltrate your workspace, your concentration.....yes your whole thought process. What once was seemingly insignificant to the child now becomes a matter of extreme importance, and they won’t give up ‘til you have solved the problem.

But you wanted to stay home to spend more time with your family anyway, didn’t you? If you can overcome this challenge, you can have it all.....money, business ownership AND more family time.

And if you're thinking of getting into the VERY LUCRATIVE Internet Marketing field, you can grab Lee McIntyre's Upside Down/Inside Out Workshop DVD for free. Lots and lots of information there about building an internet business and getting the time and money you want!
